Find your next book

Read, write, and build on a shared library.

Browse the library and search by title or author. Open a book to see its chapters, reading time, and source credits.

Choose Read to begin. You can rate a book and choose Watch book to hear about new published versions.

Your workspace holds books you own and books shared with you. Create a book there, or make your own version of a book that allows copying.

Read, rate, and watch

Make reading comfortable and keep up with books you enjoy.

Use the chapter list and previous or next controls to move through a book. Reading controls let you adjust the text size.

The book icon opens the final page layout. The download icons offer EPUB for an e-reader and PDF for fixed pages. A named edition keeps its published text and layout.

Rate a book from one to five stars; you can change or remove your rating. Choose Watch book to receive notifications when a new reading version or edition is published. Stop watching whenever you like.

Save and recover your draft

Keep writing safely, with clear save and cancel controls.

Open a book in your workspace to write. Choose a chapter on the left, or drag chapters to change their order. Your account header stays available while writing; focus mode hides it to give your text more room.

When enabled, autosave keeps a recoverable working copy. Save draft in the toolbar marks a point you deliberately want to keep. Cancel changes appears beside it while your work differs from that point. Leaving with pending changes asks for confirmation.

Cancel changes returns to your last deliberate save, or the opening draft if you have not saved a milestone yet. History lets you inspect changes and restore a previous draft. Finalize validates your manuscript and keeps a fixed private copy; it does not publish or submit the book for review.

Shape the page

Format your chapters and preview the finished publication.

Open Formatting to use headings, lists, tables, images, captions, and numbered footnotes. The formatting controls are also available in focus mode.

Choose a publication layout for a book, thesis, article, or manga. Fill in the details requested for that layout, such as author, publisher, university, or journal. Administrators manage the available layouts and their parameters.

Edit the opening and back pages, then open the final layout to preview the whole publication. The contents page and note numbers are prepared from the manuscript.

Work together

Share a book and review contributions before publication.

Book owners invite readers, writers, and editors from People & sharing. Readers can read; writers can prepare drafts and offer changes; editors can approve and publish.

Submit a finished draft for review to let collaborators compare the proposed changes. Discussion and approval refer to that exact submission. Publishing an accepted manuscript updates the shared reading copy.

Create your own version when you want a separate direction. Classics kept as reference books stay unchanged; writing continues in your independent copy with its source credits.

Make the account yours

Manage your profile, language, security, and notifications.

Open Your account from your profile picture. Its tabs separate your profile, security, notification preferences, activity, and privacy. You can choose English, French, Arabic, or Spanish for the interface.

Sign in with your username or email. Change your password in Security, and set up an authenticator if you want two-factor protection. Name changes require your password and an email confirmation.

The bell opens notifications. You can mark them read, remove individual entries, or clear your list. Watch or stop watching a book on its page to control new-version alerts. Privacy settings also let you choose whether other members may contact you.
